Posies to Paradise Cruise Last viewed: Dec 09, 2009, 05:12:03 AM (GMT)
Winnemucca, NV--Cruised out to Paradise in the truck with Mom to take some flowers out to Dad's grave for Memorial Day, get it looking ship-shape for when the Veterans come with flags. Dad was in the Air Corps in WWII, played the organ in church, met Jimmy Stewart, etc. Never was shipped out though. The A-bomb saved him, I guess, making me part of a nuclear family.
Took an old T.V. up to the dump on the way out, and stopped by Frank G's place and hauled some stuff up there for him, too. On the drive up the hill, saw Dave Leon, garbageman of Winnemucca, making his daily run up. Dave is a brilliant poet and an old friend, and I made a little blog deal for him where he can post some stuff. Not for the faint of heart, but read some if you dare: Dave Rafe Leon.
Got the flowers anchored down good on top of Pop and ate Reubens in the Mercantile there in Paradise Valley. Ran into Frank Loveland, personable guy, one of our old neighbors in the Valley. Drove back and resting up before the Thursday ride up Wmca Mountain tonight.
Paradise Valley is pretty as ever, what a spot, like no place else I've ever been. The closest town to where I grew up. top | |
